Students develop a reasonable understanding of the ways of thinking (ideas, beliefs, attitudes, values, philosophies), the behavioral practices (patterns of social interactions), and the cultural products – both tangible and intangible (for example, art, history, literature, music) — of Hispanic societies
Courses taken: SPAN 307, 316, & HCOM 345 Reflection: In the courses that I took to in order to fulfill this Major Learning Outcome (MLO), I was able to learn more about my heritage and the culture of Spain. In SPAN 307: History & Politics of Mexico and in HCOM 345: Chicanx Culture & Life, were the classes where I got to learn more about my culture and heritage. At the beginning of this course I knew information about where I came from but I never knew about all the different rulers that Mexico had and all the hardships that the country had to go through in order where it is now. As well as for my Chicanx course, I was able to gain a better understanding on the full culture of the Chicanx community. In the SPAN 316: Culture and Civilization of Spain, taught by Dr, Gomez, I was also able to learn about all the different ‘rulers’ of the country along with all the different religions.
