This is an introductory course to language, its linguistic structure, and use. Topics include the nature of human language as distinct from other communication systems; the systems of linguistic knowledge; language use in context; geographical and social dialects; historical development of language and the evolution of language.
Course Narrative In this course I learned about the sintaxis, morphology, and lexicons of the language. In this course we also learned about cognitive words and how their are various types of cognitive words. Something that I found interesting about this course an assignment that we had to do where we had to go out and find someone who did not have English as their first language. Once we interviewed them we had to study the interview and find out what words the person was mispronouncing and transcribe how they were pronouncing the word.
